Kanelbullar (in English)

I just left Sweden two weeks ago but I already miss m life there so much, I am creating a mini Sweden at home! And of course, it starts with bakery and kanellbullar (cinnamon rolls).



So if you want to continue to have your lovely fika at home, here is the recipe!

For 10 kanelbullar,


1dL milk
10gyeast
40g sugar (30mL)
1/2 teaspoon cardamom
250g flour ( 4dL)
25g butter
salt
1 egg
granulated sugar

For the filling:

25g butter
40g sugar (30mL)
1 teaspoon cinnamon

Heat the milk and butter.
Crumble the yeast and mix it with the milk and butter. Add the sugar, salt, cardamom and flour. Knead it almost 10 minutes. Cover the dough and let it rest for 30min.

Mix the filling.  Roll out the dough in a large rectangle (0.5cm thick) and spread out the filling. Roll up.
Cut into rolls, 2cm thick and side them in muffn cups.
Cover the rolls and let them rest for 1hour. Their volume will double.
Brush them with the beaten egg and cover with granuleted sugar.
Bake during 5 to 8min at 250°C.
